This sweet couple from Tennessee decided to elope on the sandy shores of Costa Rica. Brandon and Jessica were a complete joy to photograph. They were so easy going and easy to talk to, and their love for one another was very apparent.
Jessica was getting her hair done while chatting and laughing with Brandon.
For the ceremony we all headed to the secluded beach at Arenas del Mar hotel. Jessica and Brandon picked a beautiful spot near the rocky end of the beach.
Jessica and Brandon's first kiss was straight out of a storybook. He threw off his hat and took Jessica passionately into his arms.
Vickie and Darrick were so easy going and fun to work with. They were here to have a good time and to marry one another. It was that simple. They pretty much allowed me to pick the spot on the beach for the ceremony, which I was so happy about. We used the shadow of a large volcanic rock for even lighting, and had the beautiful Manuel Antonio National Park as the backdrop.
The whole ceremony these two were in contact. Whether it be an arm around the other, holding hands, or their first kiss as husband and wife, these two were inseparable. Their love was apparent and came through in their beautiful photos.

Francesca and Jacob eloped with one another in a jungle paradise. Francesca wore a nontraditional wedding dress, with a floral pattern and flowing train. The colors of the dress really popped against the green background of the tropics. Jacob sported a custom made navy suit paired with a purple tie.
Jacob was down to earth and enjoyed going with the flow. He wrote beautiful personal vows for his future wife, and made her laugh and cry all at the same time. Francesca was very excited. She was so sweet and excited that when she saw Jacob for the first time, and during their vows, she would do this sweet little excited jump. It was as if she couldn't contain her love and excitement for the man standing in front of her.
Jacob and Francesca opted to do a first look with one another. They also wanted to share their personal vows with each other outside of the actual ceremony, so we took a moment to do that before taking some portraits around the property.
A beautiful geometric arch was setup on the front lawn with a piece of drift wood perfectly placed in the center. Francesca and Jacob walked in together with beaming smiles on their faces the whole way down the aisle.
Francesca and Jacob walked off as newlyweds and went straight into their first dance, but this was no ordinary first dance....the couple learned a beautiful choreographed dance full of lifts and turns.
Just after the sun set we made our way up the mountain to a restaurant with a beautiful view of the ocean. A romantic table set for two awaited the newlyweds.
Brandi and Luke arranged a simple yet beautiful wedding on Manuel Antonio Beach. With a view of the Manuel Antonio Nation Park, this couple said, "I Do" to one another and committed to love one another for the rest of their lives.
Guests enjoyed the amazing sunset and wet their feet in the water before heading to a dinner reception at a nearby restaurant.
With the rainy season comes morning weddings, and sometimes we get overcast, cloudy skies, and sometimes beautiful shining sun skies. On the day that Georgianna and Aaron eloped the sun was shining bright and the sky was a beautiful blue. The light is so different in the morning verses the evening here, and the photos really have a completely different feel to them. Even though we had to work around the harsh shadows created by the sun, the photos still turned out stunning of this beautiful couple and family.
Georgianna asked me for a recommendation for an officiant, but the normal officiant I recommend wasn't available, so in a pinch my husband, Alvaro, officiated the wedding. It was something different and a little bit fun for him. The three girls stood by watching.
Jona and Adam wanted to start their married life in the morning to signify a new beginning to this new chapter of their lives together. They woke up early, and arrived to the beach at 5:45 AM, just as the sun was beginning its journey into the sky. Jona arrived in a robe and changed into her dress behind one of the volcanic rock formations before revealing herself to Adam.
As Jona walked towards Adam his face literally lit up. He had a look of astonishment, excitement and joy as his wife to be joined him at the alter. The two shared a passionate first kiss, and immediately after Jona whispered that it was the best kiss of her life.
Jona and Adam shared a first dance on the empty beach, as the sun peaked out from behind the tree line. Jona was as bit nervous, and was happy they had chosen to elope as she couldn't imagine the nerves that would have accompanied a big wedding.
The couple was full of adventure, climbing rocks, splashing each other and ending up getting entirely soaked by the end of the photo session. It was such a fun time with these two, to be young and in love is such a beautiful thing. They had plans to continue the marriage celebration later that day with a sunset sailing tour.
Jenn and Steve chose Tulemar Resort as their venue for their elopement. A romantic arch was setup for just the two of them, on the edge of the palm lined beach. It was nothing short of blissful.
They were both getting ready in their villa, and we did our best to not have them see one another until the first look outside in the jungle pathway.
Down at the beach the ceremony was set in a very secluded spot. The ceremony was sweet and simple.
Ya think Jenn was excited? Between the giddy photo above of Steve putting the ring on her finger, and the pure adrenaline photo below of being pronounced husband and wife, I think it is a safe to say that this couple was utterly thrilled to be marrying one another.
After the ceremony we started the photo session in some of the green areas and jungle pathways of the resort. And then stepped onto the beach for the sunset.
Sara and Jake decided to marry one another on the beaches of Manuel Antonio. They wanted an extremely intimate ceremony, and that is exactly what they got. Their wedding date was on the cusp of the rainy season, and so they decided to have a morning wedding to evade the risk of rain.
The weather was perfect, blue skies radiated as Sara got ready at Hotel Costa Verde. Sara's dress was beautiful. It was an ivory color with a deep plunging neckline that made it so delicate looking.
The couple decided to do a first look before heading down to the beach together. We used Costa Verde's brand new suspended bridge for the first look, which worked out great. Sara and Jake read each other their personal vows at this time as well, it was a emotional moment for both of them.
The ceremony was held down at the beach. It was blazing hot out so the couple was set in a shady area under the palm and wild almond trees. It made the ceremony even more private as it felt like they had that whole area reserved to themselves, without beach goers walking by and watching.
After the ceremony we walked along the beach, stopping for photos as we went. We ended the session with a few fun photos in the water.
Nothing is more romantic than a soft and slow kiss from your newly married wife. The only thing that could possibly be more romantic is running away to Costa Rica with your lover and marrying them with your toes in the sand and without a care in the world.
Ariane and Chris traveled from Tampa, Florida to do just that. Ariane was so sweet and excited to be getting married. She opted not to do getting ready photos so I met her at the hotel reception and we made our way down to the secluded beach at Arenas del Mar. There Chris was waiting for her, under a beautifully decorated arch.
Just before the bride and groom kissed each other, Marcelo, the officiant, read a rather interesting passage to the couple. It was a message from Ariane's father, a rather threatening message from her father to Chris. It was all in good humor as the couple began laughing at what seemed a normal behavior from the bride's dad. They kissed on a happy note, and with smiles on their faces.
After the ceremony we took to the beach of Areanas del Mar. The tide was a bit high but it made the sand perfect for footprints.
I love how the photo below came out, especially considering what the area looked like in person. I think Ariane and Chris probably thought I was crazy to have them sit on this log with a very messy background full of dead leaves and branches. But with the right settings and the right lighting this stunning image was created.
Marije and Michiel traveled all the way from Holland to Costa Rica to marry one another. They chose a very unique location to tie the knot, a small beach called Playa Ventanas, or Window Beach. The beach earned this name because of the small tunnels with windows of light that the ocean tide created. Marije and Michiel planned everything out in secrete, without telling their families or friends that they were marrying one another. What a happy surprise for everyone when they returned back home.
The couple stayed at a small hotel called El Mono Feliz, owned by a couple also from Holland. It was really nice because they spoke the same language and were able to connect easily because they came from the same culture. The hotel owners took great pride in adding many special details and elements to the day for Marije and Michiel.
The couple opted for a morning wedding to avoid the greater risks of rain. Marije was getting ready in the hotel owners wooden cabin while Michiel patiently waited to see his bride for the first time.
After the informal first look we took photos around the hotel grounds. There were beautiful bridges and greenery throughout the property.
Marije thoughtfully brought everyone involved in the wedding a small gift of delicious wafers from Holland. We all took the short drive down to the beach for the ceremony.
After the ceremony a short story of the couples lives was read in Dutch and a toast was made with everyone involved.
After all of the celebrating had taken place, we continued with more portraits of the newlyweds.
