Lisa and Ken's Seaside Wedding at Casa de las Brisas

Lisa and Ken were surrounded by family and friends as their vowed their love to one another. The weather was a bit rainy that day, but these two didn't care. They wanted to be at the beach even if a meant getting a little wet. In the end the rain dissipated and we were able to get some stunning beach portraits.

Lisa and her friends were getting ready at Casa de las Brisas. She was excited and happy and had a special glow about her.

The ceremony was held at Manuel Antonio beach, under the wild almond trees. Since it was a bit of a rainy day the beach was nearly empty, which made for a really private ceremony.

We were nearing the end of our portrait session when Lisa's brother, who had actually gotten married a few years before in the very same place, suggested that there was a chance the sun might come out for a sunset. I didn't have high hopes because of all of the rain and cloud cover, but out of no where a BEAUTIFUL sunset surprised us. It only lasted a few short minutes, but it was just enough time to get some sunset photos of the newlyweds.

A casual reception was held back at the house. Guests enjoyed dinner and cocktails and shared many laughs together.

Janae and Jayce's Rooftop Wedding at Casa de las Brisas

Janae and Jayce held an intimate wedding ceremony at a vacation house nestled in the Costa Rican jungle. They said their vows to one another with tears in their eyes, and smiles of joy on their lips. Family and friends joined them to celebrate, as well as two very important guests, their two sons.

The day started with Janae getting ready. Her two little ones looked so cute in their little outfits, complete with bow tie and all. Janae wore a simple dress that beautifully displayed her body art.

A tropical arch was set for the ceremony. Traditional Costa Rican bird whistles were given to each guest. They all blew on them and sang little bird songs as the couple exited from the ceremony.

After the ceremony the newlyweds shared a first dance as an entire family, it was such a sweet moment, I am tearing up just writing about it.

Julia & Brian's Family Centered Ceremony at Casa de las Brisas

12/22/2018

Manuel Antonio sunset wedding
Julia and Brian married one another in Costa Rica in front of a select group of friends and family. And although this wedding ceremony made their union official, it was not needed to prove that these two are committed to one another for life. Julia and Brian have been together for over 10 years and have two beautiful children together. The small daily routines of life and the support they provide to one another already shows just how committed they are.

One of the things that I loved about these two are how laid back they were. Neither of them were nervous or stressed about the wedding, they weren't very particular about how things looked or flowed (even though everything looked beautiful and flowed seamlessly). They were eager to incorporate the children into their wedding day, yet also reserve special moments for just the two of them.

A stunning tropical setup awaited Julia and Brian. Birds of paradise and red ginger flowers were in abundance. Alvin played on his guitar as Julia made her entrance, I couldn't tell during the wedding day, but after zooming in on her photos during the editing process I could see that she had tears welling up in her eyes.

Erin & Dave's Tropical Wedding Celebration at Casa de las Brisas

2/27/2018

casa de las brisas weddings, costa rica
Erin and Dave have known one another for a long time, and dated each other in high school. They grew apart and grew up and then were reunited as adults. The same spark was still there as adults, and Dave was able to make Erin laugh just as much as he did back in high school.

The couple took a trip to Iceland, where Dave proposed to Erin with her grandmothers ring. The fact that Dave was trusted with grandma's ring already tells a lot about who he is, and how much Erin's family already loved and trusts him, All of which was very apparent the day of the wedding. The couple wore custom bracelets that day of the wedding, with the coordinates of where Dave proposed to Erin, and rumor has it that they may get tattoos of the coordinates of where they married one another, here in Costa Rica.

For their wedding the couple invited a handful of family and friends to join them at Casa de las Brisas in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica. Erin and her beautiful daughter Sian were getting ready at the house, along with Erin's mother, sister and her niece. Upon arriving I noticed Sian playing on her tablet, she seemed like a very quiet and to herself kind of kid. A little later she woke up and proudly displayed her awesome and outgoing personality. She was so excited and has such a fun-loving spirit.

My encounter with Dave is slightly embarrassing for myself...no, it is very embarrassing. Dave was the first person I met upon arriving to the house. He greeted me with a big smile and a great attitude. He was taking it easy, wearing a brimmed fishing hat and just lounging with the guys.

Later on I went to find him, to take a few photos of the guys getting ready. I ran into another groomsman, or so I thought, I asked him his name and he replied, Dave. It took me a few minutes before I realized that this "groomsman" was actually Dave, the groom, that I had just met an hour or so earlier. All I will say is that Dave cleaned up really well, to the point where I hardly recognized him.

The ceremony was held on the rooftop deck, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Dave stood at the alter, patiently awaiting his beautiful bride.

After the ceremony guests were invited to join in a cocktail hour on the lower terrace. We took a few photos around the house and then headed down to the beach for the newlywed portraits. I am so glad Erin and Dave decided to go to the beach as it was one of the most beautiful sunsets of the season.

While guests were enjoying cocktail hour, Chelsea and her team from Oasis Destination Weddings transformed the rooftop ceremony space into a dinner reception. Vibrant tropical arrangements were set on the tables, while twinkle lights shone overhead. Speeches were given which brought people to tears with laughter,

After dinner the party moved down to the lower terrace, this time for cake and dancing under the stars.
