Julio, Sarah and their beautiful daughter came to Costa Rica from Spain. They were headed here on a family vacation, and thought that it would be a good idea to finally tie the knot. We did things a little out of order, taking portraits early in the morning and then having the ceremony in the early evening. After our morning session at the beach the family spent their day in the national park in Manuel Antonio. In the evening we all met again at Costa Verde, where Isabel (Costa Verde's wedding planner) helped facilitate the ceremony. It was very intimate and they were joined by another couple from Spain that they had met on their vacation. About mid ceremony it started to sprinkle. We continued but eventually it started to pick up so the couple was given an umbrella. Photography: Yours truly

I love doing these as we aren't rushed or pressured by the waiting guests at the reception, and we can pick a time of day when the lighting is best. Not to mention it normally involves getting wet and rolling around in the sand. We first took some romantic portraits of the couple, I wanted to get those taken before they got all messy. For the last part of our session, Graham and Cate rented a jet ski to take some photos on. Graham loves taking part in high adrenaline sports and activities, and these photos were definitely his idea. It was my first time photographing a bride and groom on a jet ski and I hope it isn't my last!
Caterina and Graham came from Canada to celebrate their marriage in Manuel Antonio at the rustic yet beautiful hotel Costa Verde. Caterina is originally from San Jose, Costa Rica so all of her Costa Rican friends and family were able to attend the wedding. Many of Graham's family and friends were also able to join, which was so nice to have both families able to meet and celebrate together. Costa Verde is one of the older hotels in Manuel Antonio, and I love how it was build into the jungle. They really preserved as much of the nature and wildlife as possible, and it makes the villas and rooms super cozy and private. The ceremony was orginally supposed to be outside in Costa Verde's garden area. Although it wasn't raining, they decided to move it to the event center because the ground was still a little soggy from the rain the night before. Since the men were also getting ready at Costa Verde I was able to run over to their room for a few minutes to take some photos of the groom getting ready and hanging out. Caterina's grandfather read a reading during the wedding. After that he surprised her with a very special gift. He gave her a cross that he had worn for 45 years, and that had been blessed by 4 different popes. I turned around to take photos of Graham and Cate's family, and there was not a dry eye to be found. It was an extremely touching moment, and I could tell that it meant the world to Caterina. We didn't spend very much time doing newlywed portraits as we had a day after session for those (photos coming soon!). After the first dance the DJ started playing salsa music and the guests immediately took to the dance floor. A small snake decided to join the party too. The groom obviously does not have a fear of snakes! Photography: Yours Truly
