Venue: Casa Fantastica
Cake: Mariposa Pastry
Flowers: Merle's Flowers
Hair/Makeup: Amazingly done by the bride herself
Amy and Neil brought their very closest friends and family with them to celebrate such an important day in their lives. The beautiful Casa Fantastica was the backdrop for this intimate gathering. Amy was full of smiles the whole day, making my job easy. The stunning bride made her entrance at the same exact time that the monkeys arrived. They must have been waiting to crash the wedding as the guests said that was the first time they had showed up at the house their entire trip. The monkeys hung around until after the ceremony and then some. I love Amy's expression as they got closer to her. Amy and my husband seem to have the same taste in music as this was her reaction the Lion King playing. Photography: Yours Truly
Venue: Casa Fantastica Cake: Mariposa Pastry Flowers: Merle's Flowers Hair/Makeup: Amazingly done by the bride herself When I first met Kelly I could feel the excitement bubbling out of her. She was so excited to be marrying Todd, the man she loves. Kelly and Todd invited their closest family and friends to join them at Dreams Las Mareas for a week of fun, good times and of course wedding celebrations. The ceremony was held in a small gazebo situated in the middle of a pool overlooking the beach. I love the look on Todd's face as he saw his beautiful bride for the first time. It looks like he was thinking something along the lines of "Yes, this is right". After the family portraits we headed to the beach with the bridal party to catch the sunset. The reception was held on an open air terrace overlooking the ocean. Paper lanterns lit the beautifully decorated area. Photography: Yours Truly
Venue: Dreams las Mareas Typhani and Rasheed's destination wedding was definitely not typical. Normally destination weddings are attended by very few guests, mostly because it is hard for so many people to be able to travel. But not Typhani and Rasheed's family and friends, they had no problem packing a suitcase and jetting off to beautiful Costa Rica. Typhani and Rasheed were joined by over 100 family and friends at the luxurious Zephyr Palace to celebrate their nuptials. One of the great things about Zephyr Palace is that even though it is a big venue with lots of spaces and rooms, it is still very accessible and fast to get from one place to another. Rasheed was getting ready just below the ceremony area with his groomsmen. Typhani and her girls were getting ready in a room just off of the reception area. I started with her detail shots first. The ceremony was held on the pool terrace where an infinity pool overlooks an expansive view of the Pacific Ocean. The bride and groom were warmly greeted by guests as they made their entrance into the reception. Speeches were told and stories were shared... I have to say Rasheed was pretty brave shoving cake into his beautiful wife's face. Not many men have the guts to that these days. And Typhani was a great sport, laughing the whole time. Venue: Zephyr Palace Officiant: Family friend Florist: Floresteria Monteflor Cake: Kenia Salas Hair and Makeup: Family friend Jari and Ben's wedding may just be my favorite wedding ever! A beautiful location and an absolutely stunning bride paired with amazing decor and design, what more could a photographer ask for? The couple chose Punta de Vista as their wedding venue, a 5-story luxury villa situated in the jungle and yet minutes from the beach. Jari worked with Tropical Occasions, a local wedding planning company, to help bring her ideas and vision for the day come to life. I arrived to the villa a little early and Karen and her team from Tropical Occasions had just finished setting up the reception area. I started there, on the rooftop, taking some detail shots of the vibrant tablescape. Next I headed to Jari, to get some photos of her getting ready. She is one of those naturally beautiful women, and she looked absolutely stunning on her wedding day. Ben and his groomsmen were hanging out and playing pool pre-wedding in Punta de Vista's game room. Jari's mom stopped by to help Ben fold the scarf for his coat pocket. I think figuring out how to fold that thing properly was the biggest stress of the day. Goes to show how stress-free the day really was for everyone. I headed down to the beach to find this simple yet chic setup waiting for everyone. It was a bit of a overcast day which made for beautiful lighting for photos. I just love how the reception area completely transforms from day to night. The candles and twinkle lights make everything so romantic. Jari and Ben were brought up before all of their guests for a revealing of the rooftop. Photographer: Yours Truly
Venue: Punta de Vista Wedding Planner: Karen Ogden, Tropical Occasions Wedding Designer: Aimee Monihan, Tropical Occasions Cake: Mariposa Pastry Caterer: Chef Desiree Florist: Stylos y Flores Rentals: Costa Mesa Officiant: Melissa Klassen Hair and Makeup: Hair by Fernando Shannon is such a sweetheart. She is from Canada and moved to the big apple where she met Dave. Dave is a cool guy too, him and his friends definitely know how to have fun. The couple chose Dreams Las Mareas as their wedding venue. Dreams is a brand new all inclusive resort in the most northern area of Costa Rica. It has very beautiful manicured grounds and is situated right on Playa Jobo, Dave seemed cool and calm as he went about his wedding day preparations. I think his friends were keeping him pretty entertained. Shannon and her bridesmaids had their hair and makeup done in the Spa at the resort. Gifts were also delivered to the bride from her thoughtful groom. The ceremony was held under the shade of the trees at the beach. A champagne toast and cocktail hour followed. The reception was held on an open rooftop at the Seaside Grill. It was lit with romantic string lights and decorated beautifully.
Heidi and Carl chose the beautiful and lush Hotel Costa Verde for the venue of their wedding. I love Costa Verde and am always a bit nostalgic when I am there as that is where my husband and I celebrated our marriage. It was a gorgeous day, hardly a cloud in the sky. I started off with the ladies getting ready. Heidi didn't have any "bridesmaids" but she was still surrounded by a large group of wonderful women enjoying and supporting her on her special day. I just love the earrings that Heidi wore. All of the jewelry was her grandmother's which made it even more special. The earrings also had that something blue that she needed for her wedding day. Before photographing the groom getting ready I made my way over to the event center at Costa Verde. The event center is a very large, rancho type structure. It is great for larger weddings, and has no walls so it still feels like you are outdoors. No, your eyes are not deceiving you, the groom is standing in front of an airplane. And no, he did not get cold feet. One of the very unique things about Costa Verde is the different machines that have been recycled and used in the hotel. This particular airplane that Carl is standing in front of has been transformed into a master suite room. The hotel also other airplanes and train cars used throughout their restaurants and hotel. The ceremony took place in the gardens at the hotel. It was officiated by the bride's sister and was the shortest ceremony I have every photographed, but was exactly what the couple wanted. We took a few portraits at the hotel but quickly headed down to the beach to catch the sunset. Photographer: Yours Truly
Venue/Caterer: Costa Verde Wedding Planner: Costa Rica Paradise Weddings Hair and Makeup: Priscilla Solano Dessert: Mariposa Pastry Bianca and Helge traveled from Germany with Bianca's sister and her sister's partner to elope on a secluded beach on Costa Rica's Caribbean side. It was my first time shooting a wedding on the Caribbean side, and actually my first time visiting there as well. I was of course very excited to see and experience a new place in this beautiful country. For the ceremony the couple had a lawyer and also a German translator. The translator was very familiar with the town and brought us to a beautiful and quiet beach. It was great that she knew the area because the main beach was very busy as a surf tournament was going on that morning. The ceremony took place at 10 AM, it was an overcast morning but still very beautiful. I met the couple at the villa they were staying at to take a few getting ready photos. Biance had this amazing glow about her, such a natural beauty. Next we all headed to the beach known as Playa Chiquita. Is was very peaceful and surrounded by jungle, very similar to my hometown beach of Manuel Antonio. Driving through the town of Puerto Viejo made me feel like I was on a island. It has a very big surf and island vibe to it, I wished I had taken more time to explore the town, it seemed very cool. The couple and their two guests all walked down the "aisle" together. It was very sweet to see how much they included the other couple in the ceremony. I could tell that it was very important that they were there witnessing and celebrating the marriage with Bianca and Helge. These two love birds couldn't keep their hands off one another, and I don't blame them! They were so happy and in love, it reminded me of me and my husband right after we got married,
I recently had the privilege of photographing a beautiful pregnant young woman. She was a mere two weeks away from deliver, and looked amazing! A beautiful mama to be and an amazing sunset, what more can you ask for.
Toufique and Nihila traveled from Canada to be wed on the beautiful grounds of Villa Caletas. They were joined by just their very closest friends and family. Since it was such a small group the day was stress-free and very enjoyable for all. I started first with Toufique and his son, who were getting prepared for the afternoon together. Next I headed to Nihila's room where she was getting ready with her mom and her long time friend. The beautiful bride touched up her makeup before we all headed out together to the ceremony. The ceremony was held on a small balcony with sweeping views of the Pacific ocean. After the ceremony we were all taken down to the beach for sunset photos. While we waited for the truck I was able to take a few photos of the newlyweds. I love this blissful moment between the couple right after they are wed. The dinner reception was held on the same balcony as the ceremony. The staff had the table set and lit for when we returned from the beach. The couple graciously invited me to dinner, which was so sweet of them. It was such a pleasure getting to know them.
